I’ve Missed You
Quick note to readers / new subscribers. I like to write more often than every two months but I inadvertantly packed my summer pretty full - with the cherry on top being my BMX documentary ‘30 Bikes’ screening tomorrow night, September 7th in beautiful downtown Santa Rosa’s courthouse square.
The way it unfolded was serendipitous and even a bit magical, with the screen-rental owner knowing multiple old friends, the local Chamber being (in my opinion) overly helpful - like tossing in the porta-potties $0 charge, and the Sonoma Bike Coalition leading the event for someone they just met five minutes ago.
And to top it off - the infamous local Taco Tuesday Bike Group is now hosting a ride prior, ending at the movie.
I’ve been told it’s a war of attrition out there - and maybe that’s true.
Stick around long enough and good things will happen.
The story of my little bike company and how I dropped out of college at 19 to chase a big dream is a good one, raw and real and inspiring (I’m told), so if you can’t make it and would like to see what the fuss is about feel free to watch it on Prime.
The movie was an absolute blast to make - especially since I was living it out as we were filming. Then came the pandemic and my movie showings eternally postponed - then a move to Nashville - then back to California, then making a small batch of new prototype bikes to see if I can resuscitate the Homestead brand, and here we are.
That’s it for now.
Hope it’s a great September for ya’ - wherever you are.
Stay rad.
(couldn’t resist).
